(WJW) - A variety of Ohio-made cheeses are being recalled over concerns that they could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to the recall alert, the Middlefield Original Cheese Co-Op facility in Middlefield, Ohio, initiated the recall after testing by the company revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in finished product and on surfaces of cutting equipment.
The recall applies to a variety of cheese flavors in both loaves and shredded forms. According to the FDA, the recalled products were produced on May 30, 2025, and Aug. 13, 2025, and sold through distributors, dining halls, and retail stores in Ohio, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Texas between
