STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — National Grid penned a letter in response to Borough President Vito Fossella’s own submission after he declared he would “ publicly oppose ” the Northeast Supply Enhancement Pipeline “every step of the way.”
Eileen Cifone, the New York City External Affairs Director at National Grid, responded to the following five issues Fossella outlined in his letter, as listed below:
An existing pipeline already is in place. The addition would “threaten and adversely affect the fragile fish and shellfish population therein; moreover, its construction will disturb contaminated sediment on the seabed, and degrade the quality of the water in this important environmental and recreational area.”
