The members of the Mt. Hope High School girls' volleyball team overcame themselves nearly as much as their opponent in winning their third match in a row to start the 2025 Division II season.

The Huskies dropped their first set of the fall to begin their match at home Monday night, Sept. 8, at Fitzgerald Gym, but ripped off the next three to defeat Bay View, 3-1.

Mt. Hope uncharacteristically suffered through a loss of concentration and contended with maybe a bit of complacency as Bay View rallied late to win Set 1, 26-24.

The Huskies led for much of the game after breaking a 6-6 tie on a Gianna Lunney kill. The locals later held 13-6 and 22-16 advantages, but couldn't close out set. The visiting Bengals gained traction mostly due to a series of Mt. Hope errors, eventually
