Coronation Street has left audiences gobsmacked as Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) was unveiled to be alive, though some viewers are anticipating another recognisable character is set to turn up in Weatherfield to shock Carla and Lisa.

In Monday's instalment of the ITV drama (September 8), Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) marked her 18th birthday, yet her milestone day concluded in disaster when she witnessed Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) being hit by a vehicle.

Alongside Carla Connor (Alison King), Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) rushed from the property to locate Betsy and thankfully discovered her unharmed as Tyrone remained motionless on the tarmac. The vehicle veered at the final moment and rather than striking Betsy, it ploughed straight into Tyrone who was left in a critical condition.
