Almost ten days into September, it’s time to face up to the fact that summer is well and truly over, and we are all – ready or not – well and truly back to school. For us, that means fashion month, with the spring/summer 2026 womenswear shows kicking off this week in New York . While this coming season is set to be one of the most keenly watched in recent history, proffering a whopping 15 debuts at the helms of some of fashion’s most influential houses (a “grand reset”, as it were), it’s also taking place during some pretty weird times for the industry – and, well, for the world at large.
It is a secret to no one that fashion has been in better shape, with players across the board affected by dwindling sales revenues, increased logistical challenges and a pervasive climate of anxiety.
