Dave Roberts is pushing Dodgers starters deeper into games as Tyler Glasnow completed seven innings in Monday’s 3-1 win over Colorado.

The strategy stems from bullpen struggles, with the relief corps ranking 19th in MLB in ERA and closer Tanner Scott posting a 4.47 ERA.

The approach could prove crucial for playoff success but creates difficult decisions about when to pull starters in October pressure situations.

In almost any other season, Dave Roberts might have made a different choice.

Even though Tyler Glasnow was pitching a no-hitter, Roberts would have at least considered removing the right-hander after six innings on Monday night.
