KINGSPORT, Tenn. (WATE) — A gang leader with known ties to Knoxville was arrested after a pursuit in Kingsport ended with a crash in Virginia, the U.S. Marshals Service announced.

According to the Marshals Service, it and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were attempting to arrest Jametrick Franklin King in Kingsport when the pursuit began Monday night. King was wanted in Washington County on charges of violation of probation and burglary, and was also indicted on a federal charge of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

When the Marshals and THP attempted to arrest King, he spotted a marked vehicle just before officers moved in and fled at a high rate of speed, U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee David Jolley said.
