ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) - Harvest season is just about to roll in for many Tri-State farmers. Which means drivers should expect to see a high volume of farm machinery on the roads through early November.
Farmers said the speed capacity for many of their vehicles caps off at 20 MPH. This could lead to safety concerns as they share the road with others.
It can be hard to see what’s ahead of you when you get caught behind a combine.
On the flipside, it’s difficult for local farmer Ryan Meyer to see what’s behind him.
Meyer said cars need to be about 10 car lengths behind before he has any visibility of them being there.
“Fortunately, we’ve not had any accidents,” Meyer said.
But, Meyer said he’s had many close calls.
