QUINCY (WGEM) - John Wood Community College’s Workforce Development Center opened their doors Monday evening to local Quincy residents and students interested in receiving a Class A CDL.

Instructors shared information about careers in the industry, a 16-credit hour certificate program, as well as funding for tuition.

Students who attend the program are actively recruited by local and national trucking companies and some employers may fund tuition cost.

“We like to let people know what to expect if they would sign up and give them some information,” said Phil Steinkamp, JWCC truck driver training lead instructor. “We also try to get them some information about getting funding, things like that, well in advance so they can have time to get everything in order.”
