A lithium-ion battery in a remote-controlled car is being blamed for sparking a three-alarm house fire in Milton on Sunday.
Strafford County dispatchers received a call from the area of 36 Charles Street around 6 p.m. Sunday for a reported structure fire after black smoke was seen coming from the porch of a home.
Upon arrival, fire crews reported heavy fire showing from the residence. A second alarm was immediately requested, and the incident was ultimately elevated to a third alarm, bringing mutual aid from surrounding communities to help battle the blaze.
Firefighters worked aggressively to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading, Milton Fire Chief Nicholas Marique said in a statement. The home sustained significant fire, smoke, heat, and water damage.
No injuries reported.
