City of Middletown Police have charged a 16-year-old boy with the shooting of a 17-year-old boy in a barbershop on West Main Street.

The shooting happened at approximately 5:15 p.m. Sept. 3 in the barbershop at 6 West Main St. Police said the victim, whose name was not given due to his age, was a new employee at the shop.

Middletown police said that on Sept. 5, detectives from their department, assisted by members of the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center and the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, and officers from the NYPD's 30th and 33rd precincts, traveled to New York City to locate a suspect in the shooting.
