SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - A former soldier at Fort Stewart Military Reservation in Georgia was sentenced on Thursday, September 4, for the sexual abuse of two children while on the base.
Austin Michael Burak, 32, of Oak Harbor, WA, was convicted of abusive sexual contact of a child and aggravated sexual abuse of a child following a jury trial in the Southern District of Georgia.
According to courtroom testimony, Burak sexually abused and raped two minor boys in August of 2017. During the trial, three other witnesses came forward and testified to being sexually assaulted by Burak when they were minors, including one recounting years of sexual abuse at his hands.
Baker was sentenced to lifetime imprisonment for each of the two minor victims.
