Reports of robbery, theft and violence have all fallen in Leicester city centre, according to new police data. Police say proactive patrols have been "making a real difference".
The new figures, which run between Monday, August 11 and Monday, September 8, show that reports of robbery, theft and violence have all fallen compared to the same period in 2024. The biggest drop in reports was seen in robbery which the data said had fallen by 25 per cent, from 12 reports in 2024 to just nine this year.
The next biggest decrease was in reports of violence (with injury) which police said had fallen from 89 reports to 70, marking a drop of 21.6 per cent fall. Theft offences, including burglary , witnessed a 13 per cent drop as 2024's 416 incidents fell to 362 this year.
