MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A billboard not far from one of Mobile's busiest streets is gaining some traffic of its own.

The message on the sign reads, "It's time to get the clowns out" above images of two Black clowns. The message is from an unknown sender and it's led to speculation.

"They trying to get the clowns out," one man questioned. "Who the clown is [sic]?"

That's a question being asked by some people on social media after they drove past the sign that sits on the corner of St. Stephens Road and Center Street.

"I know I don't like it," one woman exclaimed.

News 5 spoke with people on Sunday afternoon who hadn't seen the sign yet, but when shown the images, none of them were happy after seeing it for themselves.

"I don't agree with that," another woman as she shook her head
