Thousands turn out for Garfield High Centennial Celebration
East L.A. -- Thousands turned out for Garfield High School’s Centennial Celebration held on campus Saturday. Students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and other guests came together for the celebration, which included performances by various groups. Historic exhibits and other activities were also part of the celebration. Garfield first opened its doors on September 5, 1925, said Principal Regina Marquez-Martinez. As part of the centennial, athletes will wear a special commemorative patch on their uniforms throughout the year, she said.
