The city of Porterville has completed a major project in which it has replaced all 34 of its electric vehicle charging ports.
Blink Charging, which did the project, announced the completion of replacing the chargers on Monday. The chargers are located at three locations in the city, at the Corporate Yard, at the Transit Center and at the Centennial Plaza parking lot.
Interim city manager Rich Tree, who also as previously the city's transportation director, oversaw much of the project. He said replacing all of the chargers became necessary as the technology changed.
Tree said the city now has the charging capacity to meet the needs of all of their electrical vehicles and busses in their public transportation fleet as long as meeting the needs of the public as well.
