By Wednesday evening the city of Porterville may have a new city manager selected by the Porterville City Council.

The council will hold a special meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in which it will interview the finalists for the city manager's position in closed session. The council voted to reopen the position and to begin taking applications again in March.

Mayor Greg Meister said during the first period in which the city recruited for the position there were six applicants. The council first began recruiting for the position in September 2024 to replace Patrice Hildreth, who retired at the end of that year.

Jason Ridenour took over as interim city manager for Hildreth and Rich Tree is now the interim city manager after taking over for Ridenour, who accepted Exeter's city administrator
