Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Tuesday is throwing her full support behind former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to be the next Governor of California and will be making the announcement at a joint press conference.

Villaraigosa, the 41st mayor of Los Angeles, a long time member of the Assembly and former Speaker of the California Assembly, has been a long time ally of Bass.

“I am honored to have the endorsement of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass,” Villaraigosa told CNS in a statement. ”I greatly appreciate her support in this campaign and look forward to collaborating with Mayor Bass for the health, safety and betterment of Angelenos and all Californians.”
