PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools will begin to look into a potential ownership of Central Park Pool.

The PPS Board unanimously approved in its consent agenda Monday night a request to direct administration a transfer of ownership of the pool to the district.

The pool is jointly owned by PPS and the Peoria Park District.

The two governing bodies met last month to discuss the pool’s future, with PPS owning the building as one of three options.

The pool and the building is in need of repair work that includes new filter tanks and structural repairs.

The facility was leased by the Peoria Area Water Wizards, but the group terminated it last month.
