ATLANTA — Several fire departments in the metro Atlanta area are grieving alongside with DeKalb County Fire after the loss of a 21-year veteran firefighter.

Preston Fant , 53, was one of many firefighters responding to a warehouse fire along South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road on Monday, Sept. 8. Credit: DeKalb County Preston Fant, a 21-year DeKalb County Fire veteran, was killed while fighting a structure fire on Monday, Sept. 8, according to Chief Darnell Fullum.

Details regarding Fant's injuries have not been released. A spokesperson for the DeKalb County Fire Department said he succumbed to his injuries sustained in the structure fire.
