Happiness is a subjective thing. Still, personal finance site WalletHub continues its annual attempt to quantify the emotion on a broad scale, by ranking states.
WalletHub has released its 2025 list of the happiest states in the U.S., and Minnesota has fallen out of the top 10, where it had previously been the past two years.
After placing sixth in 2024 and fourth in 2023, Minnesota sits at 11th this year. While that's still a strong finish, it's inching back behind states including Idaho, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
WalletHub says its rankings attempt to take into account "a mix of internal and external factors," as Americans face stressors like the cost-of-living crisis and historic economic uncertainty.
