It’s been quite a 12-month stretch for Jerry Cantrell, even if his band Alice in Chains has been sidelined for much of it.
Last October the Seattle-based guitarist released his fourth solo album, “I Want Blood,” a nine-song set on which he was helped by friends such as Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, Faith No More’s Mike Bordin and others. Cantrell, 59, has been touring to support it, and while Alice in Chains had to call off concerts due to drummer Sean Kinney’s health issues, the band did regroup to perform at the Back to the Beginning concert July 5 honoring Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath just two weeks before the former passed away.
