An earthquake struck the Lower Mainland north of Maple Ridge Monday night — though it’s unlikely residents felt it.
The magnitude-2.6 quake hit around 9 kilometres northeast of Maple Ridge just before 9:30 p.m.
Earthquakes measured below a magnitude of 5.4 rarely cause damage, according to Earthquakes Canada.
“There are no reports of damage, and none would be expected,” it said.
A handful of reports to the service have described the feeling as “weak” to “light.”
On Sunday, a magnitude-4.8 quake hit off B.C.’s Central Coast. It too was not felt, and there were no reports of damage.
