WASHINGTON - Utility company Avista has files an annual rate adjustment with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC), which would lower overall costs for families if approved.

The proposed changes would lower gas rates by about 8.6%, and increase electric rates by about 1.7%.

Washington customers using the average amount of gas can expect to see a monthly decrease from $95.97 to $86.84, and an increase from $123.42 to $126.69 for electric.
