Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from Spain's upcoming Davis Cup qualifier against Denmark, just days after winning the US Open.
The 22-year-old clinched his sixth Grand Slam title in Flushing Meadows on Sunday by beating fierce rival Jannick Sinner in four sets, winning 6-2 3-6 6-1 6-4.
Victory for Alcaraz in New York was significant, as it sealed his return to number one in the ATP world rankings.
But the Spaniard was not due to have long to savour the achievement.
He had been expected to represent his country this weekend, with Spain taking on Denmark in the second round of Davis Cup qualifying in Marbella.
But Alcaraz will now play no part in the tie, having opted against international duty after enduring a hectic schedule of late.
