NEWFIELD, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - A man has been charged for the death of a 4-year-old in Newfield from 2024.

Justin Fenton, age 31, was arrested by troopers on September 8th, in Newfield for the alleged murder of a 4-year-old in 2024.

The New York State Police responded to a call in Newfield of a 4-year-old that was unconscious and not breathing on June 30, 2024. After being transported to Cayuga Medical Center the child was pronounced dead. An autopsy report found that the cause of death was from fentanyl toxicity.

According to New York State Police the investigation shows that the child was exposed to a lethal dose of fentanyl as a result of Fenton's drug use.
