BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) - A local activist group is continuing to stoke opposition to Broome County Sheriff Fred Akshar's cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Concerned Residents of Greater Binghamton is hosting a panel discussion tomorrow evening titled Broome on ICE. The organization is a consortium of local groups including Citizen Action, the American Civic Association and a handful of churches. Its founders say their goal is to protect the human rights of immigrants and transgender people. The activists object to the cooperation agreement between the Sheriff's Office and ICE which includes housing detainees at the Broome County Jail and serving arrest warrants within the facility.
