MADISON COUNTY, Ill. (First Alert 4) - Police have identified a man who was struck by a vehicle and killed in Godfrey, Ill., earlier in September.

According to the Madison County Coroner’s Office, 37-year-old Matthew Fields was killed after he was struck by a vehicle during the evening hours of September 3.

The incident occurred on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Godfrey Road around 9:22 p.m.

The Godfrey Fire Department and Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene after receiving the call.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office pronounced Fields dead at 10:15 p.m.

A final cause of death is still unknown until detectives complete a forensic autopsy report and toxicology testing.
