BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (WOOD) — Two students are out of school and police will ramp up patrols around Battle Creek Central High School after a student was injured in a shooting Monday afternoon.
In a joint statement Tuesday, police and district officials said the shooting was "not school-related," but acknowledged its "proximity to the high school is deeply concerning."
“This is a serious matter, and we’re responding accordingly,” BCPD Chief Shannon Bagley said in a statement. “We’re doing everything we can to protect our kids and our community, and to ensure those responsible are held fully accountable.”
