CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — A Bridgeport doctor was sentenced to 24 months in prison Tuesday on drug distribution and obstruction charges.
Dr. David Elwood Hess, 61, was sentenced by Northern West Virginia Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to two years on all counts, which will run concurrently, followed by three years of supervised release. Hess was convicted by a federal jury in February 2024 on four felony drug prescribing distribution counts and one obstruction count, but acquitted on 16 other drug-related charges.
The jury found Hess guilty of unlawfully prescribing Adderall to a nurse he worked with in July and October of 2018. His obstruction conviction stemmed from his attempt to remotely wipe his iPhone six days after it was seized by Drug Enforcement Administration ag
