LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A teacher at a Lenoir County middle school is accused of being drunk in class on the second day of school.
Alena Chabot, of Clinton, was charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct on school property and misdemeanor intoxicated and disruptive.
Chabot taught at E.B. Frink Middle School, and deputies say a school resource officer was notified that she was suspected of being intoxicated at work back on August 26th.
An open container of alcohol was found in her purse, along with prescription medication, according to a news release.
Warrants say Chabot was “impaired to the extent of the defendant not able to teach her class.” It says the school had to remove her and find a substitute teacher.
Another charge says the teacher grabbed and pushed two students.
