Nancy Pordham was born in Belleville Hospital, grew in Tyendinaga then went off to study nursing. After 39 years of working in Kingston and Toronto, she moved back to the homestead and finally moved into town 13 years ago. She taught clinical nursing at Loyalist College from 1981 to 2010 before retiring. But not from the noble profession(s) of helping others. For the past 13 years, she has ardently volunteered at Eastminster Church’s weekly Open Door Café (OCD). Now in its 27th year, it was started by various local churches who saw a need for a meal program.
