DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton Police Department Lieutenant graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Lt. Matthew Beavers was one of the 254 graduates from the 295th session of the National Academy.

Officials said the National Academy is a 10-week program of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training.

Members are taught by FBI Academy instructors, special agents and other staff with advanced degrees, many of whom have international recognition.

To attend, participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies. Members have an average of 21 years of law enforcement experience and typically serve their departments in executive-level positions.
