The Met Office has issued a verdict on whether Storm Amy will hit the UK this weekend following widespread wind and rain.

Back in June, the UK weather agency asked members of the public to submit potential names for the 2025 to 2026 storm season.

Thousands of people came forward with the names of their pets, loved ones or movie and TV characters, with the first name on the list revealed as Amy.

And with rain lashing at parts of the UK this week, the storm may hit our shores this weekend, MEN reports.
