A student waiting for a school bus was hit by a car and seriously injured last week in Western New York.

The accident happened on Thursday morning in Lockport, a town in Niagara County.

A 17-year-old boy was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer south on Beattie Avenue around 6:52 a.m. when he veered off the road and into the front yard of a home, the New York State Police said in a news release.

The SUV drove through the home’s front yard and crashed into a vehicle parked in the driveway, troopers said.

The parked car then hit a 15-year-old boy who was standing in the area waiting for his school bus, troopers said.

The 15-year-old suffered “severe” leg injuries, troopers said, and was rushed to the Erie County Medical Center Hospital in Buffalo for treatment. An update on his condition was no
