The Indiana Court of Appeals has affirmed the 15 ½-year prison term issued to a Merrillville man who doused his girlfriend with lighter fluid and attempted to set her on fire in front of two of her children.

Aaron A. White, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of criminal recklessness in connection with the fire incident , three additional counts of criminal recklessness for shooting a gun into a car containing his girlfriend's daughter, ex-husband and his new wife, and one count of obstruction of justice for attempting to prevent a witness from testifying against him, according to court records.

Records show White received the maximum sentence permitted by his plea agreement, which also included the dismissal of 12 additional criminal charges stemming from a series of offense
