Groups opposing an unusual mid-decade redrawing of Indiana's congressional district boundaries to more heavily favor Republican candidates delivered nearly 9,000 petition signatures to the governor's office Tuesday.

The petitions collected by Indiana Conservation Voters, Common Cause Indiana, and allied democracy organizations urge Republican Gov. Mike Braun to resist pressure coming from outside the state , urging the governor to convene a special session of the Republican-controlled General Assembly for redistricting.

"Indiana isn’t a playground for electoral shenanigans, and we won't let Washington outsiders tell us how to run our state," said Megan Robertson, a Portage native and executive director of Indiana Conservation Voters.
