PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The child who was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Longview, Wash. has passed away.

Family members told KOIN 6 News on Tuesday that after 3 days of fighting, the 5-year-old child passed away on Sept. 7. Monday would have been her first day at school.

As previously reported by KOIN 6 News, the child was injured when the car she was riding in was struck by a motorcyclist on Tennant Way at Ninth Avenue in Longview on Sept. 4.

The motorcycle was engulfed in flames and the driver died at the scene, according to police. The driver's name has not been released.

Officials say the driver of the other vehicle was unharmed. The passenger, a 5-year-old who was asleep in a carseat, sustained serious injuries. She was LifeFlighted to Doernbecher Children’s Hospital
