Travelers are always looking for convenience and variety when it comes to booking flights. The ability to fly nonstop plays a big role in deciding where to go, especially for vacation destinations. When direct service isn’t available, travelers sometimes face long layovers or stopovers in cities that take them in the opposite direction of their final destination, which can understandably make certain trips less appealing.

This year, American Airlines is making an effort to listen to what customers want. Last month, it announced it would be expanding the route between Erie, Pennsylvania, and Charlotte, North Carolina .
