A Monmouth County man was arrested Saturday in Northern Virginia and charged with sexually assaulting an 89-year-old woman at an assisted living facility, authorities said.

Harold Leon Edwards II, 67, of Wall Township, is charged with aggravated sexual battery and object sexual penetration, according to police in Prince William County.

Officers were called about 8:45 p.m. Friday to Paramount Senior Living on Barrett Drive in Manassas to investigate an assault, police said in a statement.

“The investigation revealed staff members at the facility had located an unknown man, later identified as the accused, in the room of an 89-year-old female resident,” the statement said.
