DENISON, Iowa (KTIV) - In August 2025, there was a fatal shooting at a park in Northwest Iowa. Authorities say it was an officer-involved shooting in Denison, which resulted in the death of 36-year-old Feglys Antonio Campos Arriba.
The officer who fired, identified as Sgt. Alan Romero, was put on leave, and now the Iowa Attorney General’s Office has released its report on the shooting. The office concluded the shooting of Campos Arriba by Sgt. Romero was legally justified.
The attorney general’s office came to this conclusion after reviewing the investigation conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
According to that investigation, on Aug. 15 at about 11:20 p.m., the Denison Police Department got a report of someone sleeping in Washington Park after hours.
