There was a heavy police presence in Surrey's Newton neighbourhood Tuesday, with police reportedly taking at least one man away in a squad car.

Several police vehicles were on scene at a home in the 14000-block of Hyland Road mid-morning Tuesday (Sept. 9), as Surrey Police Service as well as Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team officers conducted a search warrant on a house.

A freelance photographer on scene reported that multiple people were detained, and that at least one man appeared to have been arrested and taken away in a squad car.

SPS senior media relations officer Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton would only confirm a search warrant was served at the home.
