The time has come ... finally.

The 49ers waived kicker Jake Moody on Tuesday morning, the team officially announced Tuesday afternoon.

NFL Media's Tom Pelissero was first to report the news Tuesday morning.

Moody, who San Francisco controversially selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, struggled mightily during the 2024 season. Those struggles appeared to have continued in 2025, as the kicker missed a 27-yarder and had another kick blocked in San Francisco's Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks.

After the 2024 season, Moody admitted his confidence was at an all-time low. But he was eager to turn the page and build it back up during training camp and into the preseason. San Francisco brought in veteran kicker Greg Joseph to compete with Moody throughout camp, but the team c
