ROCKFORD, Mich. (WOOD) — A Kent City man was killed in an “industrial accident” while he was trimming trees in Rockford, police say.

It happened just after 1 p.m. Tuesday on West Bridge Street west of River Street, according to the Rockford Department of Public Safety. The 43-year-old man was trimming trees when “an accident occurred involving a towable trailer boom lift,” police said.

The man died in the accident, the department said. His identity was not released.

It’s not clear exactly what led up to the accident.

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified and the accident is being investigated, police said.
