MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — A Mobile man was arrested for allegedly possessing and distributing child pornography.

According to a release from the Mobile Police Sheriff's Office, James Michael Phillips was arrested at his home on Sept. 9. Phillips made an attempt to clear data on his computer but was unable to during the arrest.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Unit began investigating Phillips after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in June of 2025, the release said.

Phillips is charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of dissemination of child pornography, and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
