Nearly 300 workers at a Perdue Farms turkey facility in Southern Indiana will be laid off next month, according to a WARN notice filed by the billion-dollar poultry processor.

Perdue will lay off 293 employees who work at the facility in Washington, Indiana, a town of about 12,000 roughly two hours south of Indianapolis, according to a WARN notice filed Sept. 3 with the state's Department of Workforce Development. Based in Maryland, Perdue is one of the largest meat processing companies in the country.
