BANGOR, Maine — A Southwest Harbor man pleaded guilty Tuesday at the U.S. District Court in Bangor to receiving and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maine.

Court records show 36-year-old Gary Peters received child pornography in October 2023, which he reportedly solicited from two minors through social media and messaging. FBI investigators searched Peters' Southwest Harbor home in March 2024, finding more child sexual abuse material on his devices, including his cell phone, state officials said.

For two counts of receiving and one count of possessing child pornography, Peters faces five to 20 years of prison time, a fine of up to $250,000, and up to a lifetime of supervised release.
