SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend Cubs’ season is officially over, and unfortunately it wasn’t the outcome fans were hoping for.

Their season came down to their final five games where they needed to win out to make the playoffs, but ultimately they fell short.

Despite falling short of the playoffs, South Bend Cubs President Joe Hart is optimistic for the team’s future.

“At the end of the day, 2025 was a great season,” Hart says. “Yeah, we fell a little short of our goal and making the playoffs. . . We finished on a winning note. The last game of the season was a dominant victory for us, so you know, they’re going to continue to work hard, and that’s what I love about being a Cubs affiliate. Each and every year, they are going to continue to work and get better.”
