OKANOGAN — After six years without air conditioning, the Okanogan Grange has completed the installation of a new HVAC system, replacing a unit that failed in 2018.

“It has been a long, hot, six years but finally we have a very comfortable interior,” said Douglas Woodrow, Master of the Okanogan Grange.

The project began when the system failed during the class of 1969 reunion, where temperatures reached 100 degrees inside and outside. Woodrow began seeking grants to help fund the $33,000 project.

Although an initial request was denied, Ronnie Holder Diefenbach at the Economic Alliance connected the Grange with Sue Ing-Moody at the state Department of Commerce. That connection led to a $16,000 capacity grant, which funded the purchase of computers, an LCD projector, an 84-inch smart TV, a
