CLEVELAND — Cleveland Metroparks Zoo is celebrating the birth of a new baby red panda.
The cub, whose name and gender is set to be revealed on Friday, was born in July, the zoo said.
The zoo called the panda's birth a "Tiny, Fluffy Surprise!"
"Born to mother Poppy and father Willie on July 3, this baby red panda is just over 2 months old and is healthy, curious and already stealing the hearts of our animal care team," the zoo said.
The zoo has not announced when the panda will make its public debut. Red panda cubs are born with both their eyes and ears closed and typically weigh about the same as a stick of butter, according to the Buffalo Zoo . They usually gain sight and hearing between 1-2 months old.
